The 6300 Germantown Avenue Business Alliance is excited to invite Philly families to our 15th Annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway! We'll be giving away backpacks filled with school supplies to elementary, middle, and high school students until we run out.

• When: 10 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, until supplies run out

• Where: The Concord School, 6308 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19144 (map) 

There will also be treats and educational activities for kids. All our welcome to explore our 18th century schoolhouse and make art with Artist-in-Residence Cassandra Gunkel!.

Hand-made books can fuel a love for writing and reading. Most kids love writing and illustrating their own stories. This short book-making activity is mess free and for all ages. All supplies provided. 

Cassandra Gunkel is a cultural historian and artist whose practice invariably involves both community and teaching.  As an artist she is multi-faceted, working in fibers, printmaking, photography, and book arts.
